Conversations with James . . .

Lastnight, as I was putting James to bed, we were having a conversation about God. I was trying to explain to him that God is everywhere, always, and so you are never alone.

Me: "God is always with you. Even in the middle of the night, if you wake up scared, God is with you and you can always talk to him because he is your friend. Because of God you are never alone."

James: "So, if there is only one person with me it's God. If there's one more it's Mommy, if there's one more it's Daddy, if there's one more it's Lukey, if there's one more it's Baha." (his favortie stuffed lamb)

Me: "Yes, James."

I guess what happened after proves the point of a quote I had read earlier. "A mother is God in the eyes of a child." Since he woke up in the middle of the night, scared of monsters, he came running into my room as fast as he could and shut my door and stayed the rest of the night with me. I had thought maybe he might just stay in his room for one night and talk to God . . . ;)

My new toes!

I had a pedicure and lunch date planned with two girlfriends today. I had decided on sending the kids to a little hourly day care spot for a few hours, and Tony knew I was a little nervous about it. He came home from work, having gotten a few hours of sleep, and said he would stay up with them so I wouldn't have to worry about dropping them off. What a husband I have. Thanks Tony, for the guilt free pedicure and lunch. And, for BBQing all of us dinner on your father's day . . . and doing the dishes . . . and watching the boys because I had to work. I love you, you really are the best!

Birthday party time!

James getting his face painted at Megan, his preschool friend's Birthday Party.

Lucas climbing . . . his favorite thing to do!

Last Thursday, we went to a birthday party for James' friend Megan from preschool. It was at an indoor play place and the kids had a blast with all of the things to climb, jump, run and slide on. After playing, there was pizza and ice cream. The kids had a blast!

Arts and Crafts

James teaching Lukey to color while Mommy cooks . . .

Knowing James has been a little bored since school is out, I thought it might be fun to get crafty. James had fun making these monster hand puppets! But, unfortunately the fun only lasts about ten minutes . . . How do those preschool teachers do it??? ;)

Sleepy Time

Tony and I have always taken a lot of pride in the fact that our children seem to be such good sleepers. I started sleep training at 3 months with them an I have always had kids who sleep 12-13 hours through the night no problem. Well, that has all changed. We have entered the era of nightmares and scary "gooby" monsters as James says. He sleeps in our room EVERY night now. He starts off in his own bed, but comes to our room at some point in the night. We have transitioned him from our bed to a mattress on the floor, since no one was getting much sleep. It's not so bad, except the Mommy time I had to myself most mornings for a nice shower and to do my hair and makeup is now gone. Now I must get ready in 10 minutes! ;)

Luke's 15 month Check up

So, we had to check back with the doctor at 15 months because he was a little concerned last time that Lucas wasn't walking or talking so much yet. (I think a lot of us moms of boys know they can be a little slower, especially in the talking department.) Well, the doctor was happy with his progress as he is now cruising on the furniture, climbing everything, walking while holding onto a hand, saying a few words and babbling a lot. He also began eatting with a spoon and fork. Or trying to with minimal success at least. As far as stats go, he was 24 lbs, 9 oz and 331/2 inches. It's so funny, because I look back at Lucas and compare him to James, wondering if I have stiffled him a bit. James never wanted to be held and barely sat still. He was always eager to be independant and grow. He was walking at about 10-11 months and never wanted to nurse or have a bottle beyond a year. Lucas has always loved being the baby and loved being held. I enjoyed his cuddly nature so much maybe I babied him a little too much? Oh, well. I am sure by the time he goes out into the real world he will be walking and talking. Could you really blame me for holding on to him a little longer than I should have? I'm soaking up all the love I can in these precious years with my little men!

Goodnight Lukey Lovins!

Lastnight, James wanted to feed Lukey his bottle before bed. I thought it was so cute, I had to run and get the camera.
Then, my little photographer James had to get up and take a picture of me feeding Lukey. (Not quite as cute, I know, but at least he is actually getting people in his photos now!)

Last Day of School!

James had his last day of preschool today. He and the other kids put on a little singing performance for the parents. It was so cute . . . and so hard to get them all to sing! But they did a good job!
After the show, the kids got to decorate cookies for their tea party!
Enjoying the tea party outside. James even ate some peas! ;)
James and Teacher Maria! James had a great first year of preschool! It was a little sad saying goodbye at the end of the party though because all of the kids are going to different preschool sites for next year. sniff, sniff . . .

Lucas

Just had to post a few pictures of my little heart breaker. You just can't get any cuter than this. Love you, Lukey!

Gymnastics Class

James started some gymnastics classes for summer. He did really well his first day, but needed some help with the balance beam. He may be scared of heights like his mommy. ;) Overall, he really enjoyed it and we look forward to seeing him learn new moves!

Half Moon Bay

My parents watched the boys while Tony and I took a little trip to Half Moon Bay. We had a great time, despite not taking any pictures! ;) We ate at many great restaurants including Sam's Chowder House. (You must go if in HMB!) We came back to my parent's house feeling relaxed and full of seafood! While gone, we thought of the boys constantly. This was our first trip away overnight since James was 9 months old! During our time away, we attended Tony's cousin Alex's Law School Graduation ceremony at the Daves Symphony Hall in S.F. Congratulations Alex! Here, you can see how happy Tony is to be back with his boys! Next trip, we have to bring our boys with us! ;)

Happy Easter!

James had a little Easter Egg Hunt at school. The teachers wanted each child to find 5 eggs. James got so excited after finding his first egg, he was ready to stop! I am sure that will change in the years to come.

I couldn't figure out how to get this pic any bigger, but at Easter dinner the Easter Bunny showed up! The boys were so happy. (Thanks Alex!)

Expecting!

It wasn't too long after Luke's Birthday party that we found out we are expecting again! We are so excited, of course! We are hoping for a girl this time, but most importantly, for a healthy baby and delivery! Our due date is November 17, 2010.
